About Srajan

A balance of tradition and modernity, Srajan’s music is a reflection of his own upbringing across India, Europe, and Texas. With a multi-cultural and multi-instrumental repertoire that includes sitar, harmonium, vocals, and rhythms, Srajan creates a signature sound that blends harmony with passion and devotion.

About the Music

Indian classical music is one of the world’s oldest musical traditions, with roots that can be traced back more than 3,000 years. Belonging to the musical lineage of the Seniya Gharana which dates back to the 16th century, Srajan is a student of Ustad Ghulam Farid Nizami, a direct descendant of Mian Tan Sen.

Ustad Nizami came to the United States in 2008 as a Fulbright Scholar to teach music at the University of Texas and in 2009 founded the Nizami School of Sufi Music in Austin, Texas.
